1. Agreement to Terms & Age Requirement

By scanning, activating, or interacting with a Scan To Return tag, you agree to be bound by these Terms. You must be at least 18 years of age to activate a tag. If you do not agree to all terms, do not use the Service.

2. "As Is" Service & No Recovery Guarantee

ScanToReturn provides a passive digital communication bridge. This is not a security device, GPS tracker, or insurance product. We make NO GUARANTEE that a lost item will be found, that a finder will scan it, or that your item will be returned. The Service is provided entirely "AS IS" without warranties of any kind.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Scan To Return to protect, identify, or transport illegal, illicit, or highly dangerous items (including but not limited to unregistered firearms, controlled substances, or hazardous materials). We reserve the right to wipe the digital profile of any tag found violating this policy without refund or notice.

4. Indemnification (Your Responsibility)

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Scan To Return, its affiliates, and employees from any claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses (including attorney's fees) arising from:
(A) Any physical interaction, property damage, or harm resulting from your decision to meet or communicate with a person who scanned your tag (the "Finder").
(B) Your failure to honor any financial reward or gift you promised to a Finder in your custom message.
(C) Your use of the Service for illegal purposes.
Any attempt to physically recover an item is done entirely at your own risk. We advise meeting in safe, well-lit, public locations.

5. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

WE HOLD ABSOLUTELY ZERO LIABILITY FOR LOST, STOLEN, OR DAMAGED ITEMS. IN NO EVENT SHALL SCANTORETURN BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE, INABILITY TO USE, OR FAILURE OF OUR DIGITAL SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

6. Dispute Resolution & Binding Arbitration

PLEASE READ: THIS AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration, rather than in court, administered in Telangana, India, in accordance with applicable commercial arbitration rules. Class Action Waiver: You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

We are committed to global privacy standards (including GDPR, CCPA, and DPDP) by collecting the absolute minimum digital footprint required to facilitate the return of your item.

1. Explicit Consent to Public Exposure

By activating a tag, you actively consent to the public display of the phone number, item description, and image you provide. This data will be digitally accessible to ANY HUMAN OR AUTOMATED BOT that queries your specific, cryptographically secure QR URL. You assume all privacy risks associated with this intentional disclosure.

2. Global Data Transfer & Storage

To ensure high-speed scanning globally, your data is stored as static files and distributed across international Content Delivery Networks (CDNs). By using the service, you consent to the cross-border transfer and storage of your provided data.

3. Finder Privacy (Zero Harvesting)

We respect the privacy of individuals returning items. Our system is designed as a passive router: we do not force Finders to create accounts, download apps, or grant GPS location permissions. We do not harvest, store, or sell Finder IP addresses or mobile numbers. Note to Finders: Opening native messaging apps (like WhatsApp or SMS) and sending a message will reveal your phone number directly to the Owner, subject to the policies of those third-party apps.

4. Your Data Rights (Right to Erasure)

You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data from our active edge networks. Because our frictionless system does not utilize user accounts, you must verify your identity to initiate a deletion. To permanently delete your data, you must physically destroy the QR tag and contact our support team with your specific Tag ID to request a manual database wipe. We also reserve the right to automatically purge inactive tag profiles to maintain data minimization compliance.

4. Your Data Rights (Right to Erasure)
